Secunderabad Ananda Buddha Vihara Temple

Today, Wednesday 22 Sept 2010 is declared as the day of Ganesh Nimajjan in Hyderabad and due to trafic restrictions all the employees have been given free chance to go home by 11 am, thus stalling the lab. work.  I attended the morning meeting (I am the officiating Tech Director for the next 5 days including today).  Everybody left and I asked my driver to take to the ring road as it is not effected by Ganesh Nimajjan Route restrictions. I reached Malkajigiri Junction and took right side road to Lalaguda, crossed Tukaram gate rly crossing and headed to Takaram gate Police station.

Nearby the Mahendragiri Hills ( now thickly populated residential area) we drove for a couple of minutes to reach the Buddist temple  It is magnificiant and the.  The temple is open upto 12:30 PM.  I have spend some time in the temple, then I enquired about the office where we can get the books etc.  I came down stairs and went into the office.  I met swamiji Sangha Rakshitha Maha Thero and took blessings.  I purchased a couple of Buddhist story books.  I have mentioned that I am going to see Sanchi Stupa next Sunday on 26 Sept. 2010.  They were pleased and swamiji gave me his card and from the web address I looked into the details of Anandabuddhavihara.

On my way back, we followed the same ring road and reached home before 1:30 PM. I telephoned to M Ramarao, who has told me about this beautiful Buddhist temple in Secunderabad.  I took lunch pack on the way from a  Curry point, as my diabetic condition doesnot allow me to prepared food after reaching home.
Thus, the trip has been very pleasant and I do hope to visit again on arthika Purnima day 24 Oct. 2010 Sunday as I was invited by the Swamiji.

Vanadurgamma Temple, Edupayalu, Medak, Andhra Pradesh

Vanadurgamma temple is located near the Manjeera Rivulet of Krishna River, in a beautiful scenic surroundings.  The place is in Medak district about 1 hour journey from Medak.  I started from Hyderabad MGBS at 10 AM and reached Medak new bus stand by 1:15 PM.  Took lunch in the nearby restaurant and proceeded to Edupayalu.  The bus dropped me at the Edupayalu kaman (arched entrance of the edupayalu road on the right side)  and then I took auto rikshaw to Edupayalu.
About 500 yards away going down the hilly road the Manjeera waters are flowing.  The temple premises is having a small bridge that is running over the overs.  It is extremely beautiful as good as the Kanyakumari Vivekananda Rock Memorial.  Of course, in Kanya kumari it was fearceful sea, where as it is only a vagu of Manjeera rivulet.

JOGULAMBA DEVI TEMPLE, ALAMPUR

On 31 July 2010 Saturday night, 10:30 PM got into kurnool bus from Hyderabad MGBS. The gentleman next to me in the bus, told me to get down at Kurnool instead of ALAMPUR Cross road because there are no facilities to stay in the night.  Alampur cross road came half an hour before Kurnool Bus stand.  I reached Kurnool by 3:30 AM and relaxed in the Delux lounge for 2 hours (Rs.20/- only) took bath and got into Alampur bus at 6:60 am, as I was not ablen to catch 5:30 am bus.  Reached Alampur at 7:30 am.  The bus conductor told me the route to Jogulamba temple (about 1 km from the bus stand and there are no autos.

It is a great historical place with the Nava Bramheswaralayams of the Sun temple like structures.  I forgot to carry my camera.  I have taken a CD and a couple of books about the temple and museum.  By 10:30 I was at bus stand and took bus to Kurnool  I was able to reach by 11:30 am and also got the bus to Hyderabad by 11:50 am.  I reached Hyderabad by 4:15 PM (got down at Aramghar) and  home by 5 PM. Alampur is a beauiful place with unforgettable sculpures and historical facts.

There is one more temple of RENUKA Ellamma Devatha near Undavelli  located on the NH7 that I could not go, since the information is given in the CD is not noted by me at the time of my tour  Here, the  Head of Renuka Devi the mother of Parasurama is worshipped.  Parusurama has cut the Head of his mother on the orders of father Jamadgni Maharishi and the head fell 12 kms away from the Alampur NavaBrahmasewaralayam.  The name of the village is Undavelli in Mahaboobnagar district. The locals have not been familiar with this temple details, so, I have not been able to add this during my trip though the time is sufficient if planned.
PS: There is also a buddist caves in Krishna Guntur area with the same name UNDAVELLI CAVES.  So, this is in Mahaboobnagar district.  Thisone is not so popular as the Buddist caves Undavelli  of Krishana district..
The CD that I got from the Jogulamba temple clearly tells about the RENUKA ELLAMMA temple.  I have seen Renuka Ellamma temple in the Chadarghat turning at the corner of Moosi nadi bridge as we are coming frm Kotito Nalgonda chowraha.  But, this is the first time I come to know that Renuka devi is the mother of Parusurama the incarnation of Maha vishnu himself who has cut the head of his holy mother for the sinful thoughts of Maya and on the ordrs of his father Jamadagni maharishi.  However, I have not yet seen the Renuka ellamma temple at undavelli of mahaboobnagar district.  Some day I wish to visit this place  again.  Internet search didnot yield the necessary details except for a blog message by somebody.

ADILABAD, JAINATH : LAKSHMI NARAYANA SWAMY TEMPLE

On Friday 25th June 2010, I boarded Krishna xpress at secunderabad and reached Adilabad at 7am on Saturday morning.  My friend P V, IAS received me at the station.  After spending 2 hrs with him, I got ready and the driver took me to JAINATH which is about 22 kms from Adilabad.  There, the MRO and Temple EO received me. Since it is the day of ERUVAKA PURNIMA, special Satyanarayana Swamy vratham is performed and about 25 families (couples)  are sitting around the Central hall just in front of  Mulavirat.  Mulavirat Laxminarayana swamy diety is looking so powerful and blessing the devotees praying to him.  I prayed for the health of my daughter and grand daughter (born on 10 June 2010) named as AKSHARA.  I prayed to the Lord and the Archaka Pujari has come from the Satyanarayana swamy vratham.  Mantra Pushpam on the name of self, Muthyaladvi, anil, venkat, and my daughter Rohini her family & the new born.  I have spend some time with the MRO, Deputy Tahasildar, EO of the temple  for 15 minutes at the temple executive officer room, took some photos and returned to Adilabad by 1 PM.
The temple is an ancient temple and a Sila sasanam in Sanskrit has been recording the hisotry of the temple.  Sen below is a picture of the sila sasanam.                                            On the way to the temple we have first passed through theAdilabad- Nagpur highway and took riight turn near the Jainath route.  It is about 9 kms from the turning point. There are three vilages on the way.  After the first village, one small bridge over Satnala Vagu has been crossed.  Then, another Vagu has come near NEERALA Village.     The small low  lying passage over the vagu is very steep and the driver told me in the rainy season when the waters are full it flows over the road on the low lying area and that time the route is closed for inevitable reasons.  A photo of the Neerala vagu is shown in  the  adjoining photo.  In the  night my brother PV IAS has seen this photo.  Immediately he was trying to contact R& B department who deals with the roads in the villages in Adilabad.
The   Promptness he has shown as the District collector impressed me very much.  Yes, that is the right way to function.  I remembered our college days when we as students used to cross the KUNDERU vagu near our village.  We used to be with wet clothes whole day in the college.  Some times  we get sick next day and has to bunk the classes.  The  Present Collector himself has passed through all such hurdships during the seventies, our college days.

JK Mandir Kanpur and history of kanpur website

Radha Krishna Mandir near Cocacolachowraha or medical cllege (back gate of JK Mandir) has been visited by me during my recent visit.  Temple starts at 9 am.  evening arathi is at 7 pm. Very delightful place to visit.

Dwarakadish mandir is again krishna mandir near to kamla tower in kanpur.  I had visited once long ago during my stay around 2000.

for History of Kanpur first independence war 1857 pl. follow the website http://www.rachitbhargava.com/History.html
In 1857 Kanpur has important British Garrison with 7000 soldiers.  Nanasaheb captured 900 British in a war fought for 22 days, the first Indian Independence war.
From Sati Chaura Ghat the British boarded boats to leave to Allahabad but, many were killed becos of the adament behaviour of the British.  About 200 british women and children were brought back and sent to BIBIGHAR.  Then British under General Henry were able to capture Kanpur again. # days before the capture the  remaining British in Bibighar were butchered using professional butcherers as the soldeirs refused to carryout the gruesome act before British entered the city on July 18, 1857.  The dismemebered bodies were thrown into a nearby well.
The British army of retribution under General Neill then committed series of attrocities againt Indian sepoyees and the civilians in the area and massacred women, children and old men.
Then, British dismantled the Bibighar and a memorial was built at the site of the  well and a church was built in 1862 All soul's cathedral and reamed as Kanpur memorial church.  This area is also on the north east corner of Wheeler's  entranchment.

British troops came from Lucknow and the Nana saheb's and ATantya Tope (war commander of Nana Saheb)  could not suceed.  The British were brutal they made the captured Indian Sepoys  to strip and smear their bodies in beef or pork fat before being tied to the front of cannons and blown apart. Those taken in Cawnpore were made to lick the blood from the walls of the Bibighar House and then hanged. Whenever a British soldier might demur at such treatment of a fellow human being the cry of “Remember Cawnpore” would go up.

Bibighar and the well where British were jailed.  It was kept under Hussaini Khanum, a lady whom the British has forced to prostitution earlier days. She has the grudge to British and british ladies as her life was ruined by  the british soldiers and british officers who have forced her into prostitution for their enjoyment.  Bibighar  was destroyed after the british captured the place and the indian soldiers were made to lick the blood on the walls of the bibighar before being tied to the cannons and blown apart.  Ruthless english general name is Henry Havelock.  One of the most wicked general of all the british of East India Company.  This well is now sealed and it is near Nana Rao Park I beleive.
Tantya Tope, would go onto lead a brilliant guerilla campaign against British forces that was to win him the admiration of his opponents before he was finally captured by troops of General Napier, and hanged on 18 April, 1859. Nana Sahib, disappeared and was never seen again.

On 10 May 1857 Indian Mutiny began in Meerut. It started becos on 24 April, Lt-Colonel George Carmichael-Smyth, a brutal and unsympathetic jr level british officer has ordered the bengal cavalry to remove with mouth the pork fat sticken papers on the amunition for the guns.85 of the 90 soldiers refused to do so.  He has arrested all the 85 for disobedience and punished them in an in human ways.

On 9 May, the entire garrison was assembled to witness their court-martial. They were sentenced to be drummed out of the service, imprisoned to ten years hard labour, and deprived of their pensions. Their comrades had to watch as they were publicly humiliated, physically stripped of their uniforms and shackled. As they were led away they noisily berated their fellow Sepoys for not supporting them. In the early hours of the following morning they broke into the prison where they were being held and released the convicted men. In opening the prison gates they released onto the streets hundreds of murderers, thieves and bandits who took their vengeance on any white person they could find, men, women or children. Christian missionaries were hacked to death, off-duty soldiers attacked in the bazaar, prostitutes murdered their clients. The reaction of the Sepoys was mixed, some helped British families to escape the carnage, a few remained loyal, but there was little doubt that they were now in open rebellion

This is the Ghat from where the british boarded the boats tol eave to Allahabad.

On 5 June 1857, the reellion on British started in Kanpur against General Hugh Wheeler. Gneral  Wheeler's son col.Gardon got decapacitated by an artillary shell after a week into e war. say by 12 June 1857.  On 27 June 1857, the General bargained to leave the british troops to Allahabad by boats.  There was disagreement and the boats were targeted.  The general with 4 british officers were broght back from the boat he was riding.Whole night Wheeler was firing against the tantya tope's soldiers.  Finally in the morning he was caught along with 11 (4 british soldiers) and the four were executed on the orders of Tantya Tope as they were killing his men all through night.

Outside well where the monument is built by british in 1859 and is known as all soul's cathedral church I used to pass by this church as I used this empty road to go to the Phool bagh area from the backside gate of war memorial colony.  The Sutter Ghat is also known as the Massacre ghat is just above this area.  Mather's mother waqs cremated in this ghat.  It has a typical shiva ghat mandir.

SAVADA KOTI is the residence of NANA SAHEB PISHWA and the british were shot in the maidan opposite savada koti residence of nana saheb.

Dewan Azimullah Khan Yusufzai (1830-1859) and Tantya tope continued guerella war upto 1859.
In 1853 Nana Saheb Pishwa send him to England to plead his application for the continuation of the royalty given to his father Baji rao Pishwa (adopted son) 70,000  pounds but, has to return in 1855 without any success.  He has an attractive physique and as many as 53 British women wanted to enjoy unethical reationaship with him including the queens daughter.  Azimullah khan and returned and then by 1857 the mutiny started.   the BOOK below is on mutiny.  The very purpose of east india company to do business is missing entirely and the british have been seen doing all the wrong things to make all   indians as slaves. to the british.  Any opposition to slavery to british is projected as a crime.  But, the crime the british are doing has not been highlighted as crime at all.

The Indian Mutiny 1857-58: Volume 3: Lucknow And Cawnpore

Valmiki ashram, Bithoor, Kanpur District, Uttar Pradesh

In the month of March, 2010, I had been Kanpur. I have a guest who is visiting Kanpur for the first time and especially, he has come at my request.  I am astonished to see the House I lived in Krishnapuram on the main GT Road has been in very very bad condition.  The neighbours have broke open the doors and windows and taken them away. I am shocked for a moment, I thought I will report it to the police. But, that will yield no useful result, as the police will try to take advantage and will extract money from me.  So, I dropped the idea.

I went to Bithoor to see the Valmiki Asram the birth place of Lava and Kusha and  prayed  to the Lord Rama to kill the evil spirits, surrounding me, my wife, my sons and my family. One of the evil in the form of ak saxena who has come uninvited into my room, where I am staying in kanpur.  This fellows eyes are typically of that of a devil in action. It is beyond any doubt hat this is the devil who is blackmailing my wife and forcing her to kill me.  My wife was under panic and was murmuring loudly "PATHI KO MAR DAL NE KELIYE KAHATHA HAI AS i WAS LYING ON THE FLOOR OF THE E TYPE QUARTER WITH MY HANDS AND LEGS TIED TO MY BACK.  aLTHOUGH IT IS DONE BY OWN SONS WHO WERE MISGUIDED BY AK SAXENA AND HIS GANG.  I prayed to Lord Rama to kill this devil with all his mighty arrows.  This is the devil who spear headed all the disturbances in my family.  He told me the following things as my family was passing through the critical phase under his blackmail.
At the early stages even no outsider knows about the ugly treatment from my wife (during the initial stages,  she was enjoying the company of the blackmailers, since she was trusting that the ladies of the  blackmailers gang are her saheliya)That time axena says " SAMAJH MAE AYEGA, SAMAJH MAE AYEGI.

Bithoor has NanaRao Pishwa Park, who led the 1857 Sipayee Mutiny the first Indian Freedom struggle.  His palace has been ruined completely some ruins are still seen.  During 1811 to 1819 this was the capital of PARAGANAS given to British.  After that, this has been given to Baji Rao, the deposed Peshwa as a residential palace.  This is also known as Bavan Ghaton Ki Nagari That means 52 (Bavan) Ghats were there in this place originally.  Today 29 Ghats only are seen in Bithoor.
